The show brings together and publicizes information and knowledge on sustainable technologies currently available with a view to not only fostering increased use of these technologies by individuals and organizations, but also to encouraging public and private organizations to further develop, produce, and use sustainable technology.
This showcase was not intended to be a science or product fair, but rather an environment where visitors will be able to see, interact and get acquainted with the technologies, how they work and what is required for them to perform appropriately.
The technologies will be presented so as to allow visitors to identify situations where they can be employed, their advantages and disadvantages in economic, social, and environmental terms, how they can be appropriately used, and their implications for users and the environment where they are implemented. This will enable visitors to understand their environmental, social and economic impacts as well as the cultural changes brought about by their implementation.
WHAT WE UNDERSTAND BY SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGY The expression “Sustainable Technology” covers methodologies, systems, pieces of equipment or processes which are economically viable, and can be produced and applied so as to minimize negative impacts and promote positive impacts on the environment, the quality of life of people, and the sustainability of society.[1]
