Ethos Institute is a non-governmental organization founded in 1998 whose mission
is to mobilize, sensitize and help companies manage their business in a socially
responsible way, making them partners in building a sustainable and equitable
society. Its over thousand member companies of different sizes and sectors have
annual revenues that correspond to approximately 33% of the Brazilian GNP. These
companies employ around 1 million people, and are interested in establishing
ethical patterns of relationship with employees, clients, suppliers, community,
shareholders, public power and the environment.
Ethos Institute was created by business owners and executives from the private
sector and has become an international reference for knowledge organization,
experience exchange and development of management tools that help companies
evaluate their management practices and deepen their commitment to corporate
responsibility. Over the years Ethos has built several partnerships with organizations
throughout the world.
Ethos focuses its actions on 5 action lines: 1. Mobilizing and engaging companies
all over the country; 2. Deepening CSR practices by offering publications, management
tools, and seminars; 3. Influencing the markets and their key players in order
to create a CSR-friendly environment; 4. Articulating the CSR movement with
